Action! Windows Live Movie Maker is out of Beta and ready for you to download now

Windows Live Movie Maker has busted out of beta! Now you can access its full set of features for free. So before you go on to download it, let's have a quick look at what it can do.

Home movies are great, and there's always something about watching that unedited, shaky footage that takes you right back. But what if you want to spruce things up a bit, make a few cuts, wipes, add some music? That's where Movie Maker steps in, and that's just the start.

If you want to make something quick and easy, the new Windows Live Movie Maker lets you create a movie within minutes using the AutoMovie feature. In a few short steps you can add transitions, effects, and a soundtrack, so you can share it with everyone.

Speaking of sharing it with everyone, you can now upload all of your videos straight from Movie Maker to Facebook or YouTube using the LiveUpload plug-in, so even if you're halfway across the world, you'll be jabbering to people about your movies in minutes.

It's also worth remembering that while you may have to compress some of videos to upload them onto one of these services, Movie Maker also lets you save stuff in several HD formats (480, 720 and 1080 px). Comes in handy when you want to burn off that DVD and send it somewhere special.

We mentioned effects above, naturally, you may be asking "what kind of effects?"

For starters, all the classic cinematic adjustments are there for you to play with — take full control of pans and zooms to charge your movie with movement first, then choose from a range of artistic, motion and visual effects to turn it to something completely you.

Ok, so you've done some cutting up, worked your angles, added some sound and generally had a bit of a play around. So you really want to put something impressive together now, right? You're going to need a bit more control for that, which is why Movie Maker comes equipped with the Storyboard feature, giving you the chance to lay out your video, audio and still shots into a real composition.

Click here to download the new Windows Live Movie Maker for free, and get cracking on those cameras.

I think it would be very good to have on your desktop. Altough, I may never use it. It is a good idea though. Keep up the good work Windows Live! Bring out Windows Live Messenger 2010!
